In October 2022, Jakarta hosted a pivotal seminar titled ‘Cambodia: An Overlooked Destination for Business and Investment,’ a collaborative effort between Aquarii BD Cambodia and the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (IndoCham). The event aimed to strengthen business ties, debunk myths, and refresh outdated views about Cambodia’s business environment. Drawing over 120 Indonesian entities from various crucial industries, the seminar played a significant role in increasing business visits from Indonesia to Cambodia in 2023, culminating in 22 new initiatives worth approximately $69 million.
Aquarii BD Cambodia, buoyed by the Jakarta seminar’s success, is gearing up to replicate this in Singapore. The upcoming seminar, set for March 22, 2024, at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, has garnered substantial backing from prominent entities such as Khmer Enterprise (KE), Swisscontact, Phillip Bank, and Singapore Airlines, along with endorsements from the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) and the Ministry of Commerce (MoC).
Michael Tan, CEO of Aquarii BD Cambodia, reflected on the Jakarta event’s impact, highlighting its role in challenging misconceptions and fostering business collaborations. He emphasized the importance of international seminars in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) by showcasing Cambodia’s real socio-economic progress and offerings to global investors and businesses.
The Singapore seminar, themed similarly as ‘Cambodia – An Overlooked Destination for Business and Investment’, will feature keynote speeches by the Minister of Industry, Science, Innovation and Technology, and the Minister of Commerce. The event will delve into Cambodia’s business-friendly environment, competitive edges, key sectors, and investment-ready projects, coupled with Q&A sessions to address potential investor queries.
The seminar will wrap up with a networking event, encouraging interactions among delegates and global participants. As of late February, a diverse range of sectors from Singapore and beyond, including education, finance, technology, and healthcare, have shown interest in the seminar. Aquarii BD Cambodia anticipates further registrations from various industries, appreciative of the support from organizations spreading the word about the event.
Additionally, there will be opportunities for delegation members to engage in targeted meetings with Singaporean businesses, fostering deeper commercial ties. Interested parties have the option to join as delegates, sponsors, or partners, and can also promote their businesses in the Seminar Guidebook.
