In the first quarter of 2024, Cambodia has seen a significant boost in its investment portfolio, with the approval of 128 new and expansion projects, as announced by Prime Minister Hun Manet. These projects, summing up to an investment of over USD 2.5 billion, are set to generate employment opportunities for more than 130,000 individuals.
This announcement came from the Prime Minister himself on Thursday, May 9th. The occasion was marked by the inauguration event of the Cambodia Confederation of Investors Association (CCIA) held at the prestigious Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Delving into the mechanics of this achievement, Prime Minister Hun Manet revealed that these projects are a reflection of the synergetic efforts between the Royal Government and the private sector, aimed at making Cambodia an attractive destination for both domestic and international investors. He also highlighted a fresh success – the signing of 14 investment projects worth USD 480 million earlier that day.
In his address, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the dedicated efforts of the Royal Government and its partners in promoting Cambodia, strengthening investor confidence, and showcasing the tangible outcomes of these endeavors that have benefitted the nation over the past eight months.
Moreover, the Prime Minister elaborated on the strategic approach adopted by Cambodia to fuel its economic growth. This strategy focuses on twofold objectives: not only preserving the momentum of current investments but also seeking out and securing new opportunities. To support this dual strategy, the Royal Government has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at bolstering the performance and expansion possibilities of existing investments, thereby ensuring their lasting success and contribution to the country’s economic landscape.
