The Information Technology (IT) landscape in Cambodia is undergoing significant changes, with increased opportunities for ASEAN IT companies to establish and expand their operations within the nation, according to experienced professionals in the field. This development was a key topic of discussion at a recent event hosted by Innov8tif Solutions in Phnom Penh.

Innov8tif Solutions, a company specializing in ID assurance in Southeast Asia, organized this gathering to facilitate meaningful discussions on the future digital trajectory of Cambodia. The event saw participation from key players in the banking, insurance, and fintech sectors.

During the event, Innov8tif was joined by its digital solution partners, including Firmus, MyBillOne, and Bellsnord, to showcase their technologies and services. The presentations covered crucial IT infrastructure components for financial institutions, such as electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) processes, digital banking advancements, cybersecurity measures, electronic documentation, and cloud computing services.

George Lee, Innov8tif’s co-founder and CEO, in a conversation with Khmer Times, highlighted the company’s extensive collaborations with over eight financial institutions in Cambodia, addressing a wide array of their digital needs. From eKYC solutions for banks and microfinance institutions (MFIs) to invoicing and workflow management systems for SMEs, Innov8tif is poised to offer versatile solutions. The company has also established operations in Cambodia, underscoring its commitment to the local market.

As Cambodia navigates through its digital transformation journey, Lee emphasized the growing demand for integrated and comprehensive services within the Banking and Financial Services Industry (BFSI) sector. Innov8tif is at the forefront, offering ID verification and authentication services, alongside innovative solutions for detecting fraudulent identities and aiding in anti-money laundering efforts. Their flagship product, EMAS CIDA, exemplifies this by amalgamating various ID verification techniques to bolster fraud prevention and enhance security.

The event also served as a platform for financial institutions and IT service providers to engage directly, fostering a collaborative atmosphere conducive to strengthening Cambodia’s fintech ecosystem. Among the notable contributions, Firmus Business Manager Allen Loh shared insights into the company’s cybersecurity innovations, including penetration testing and firewall assessments, employing both manual and automated tools for comprehensive client protection.

Alex Hee, CEO of myBillOne, discussed the growing demand for cloud-based solutions among banks and insurance companies, particularly for electronic document management to facilitate easy data access and retrieval. He detailed how his company tailors solutions to client needs, ranging from digitizing policyholder documents for insurers to enhancing email communication efficiencies for various businesses.

With the online banking penetration in Cambodia expected to reach 2.71% by 2024, as forecasted by Statista, there’s a palpable momentum in the digital banking sphere, reflecting a gradual yet steady embrace of digital financial services.

In his concluding remarks, Lee expressed Innov8tif’s aspiration to forge stronger connections with local enterprises and demonstrate the company’s dedication to catering to the dynamic needs of Cambodia’s financial sector, promising a future of enhanced digital integration and innovation.
