Under the original leadership of General Mao Sophan until 2023, and subsequent changes in command and structure, the brigade has evolved in alignment with the national defense strategies and reforms of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. Notably, a reformation took place on September 6, 2018, when Brigade 70 transitioned from the General Command to the Army Command. This strategic move was solidified with an official name change from the Infantry Brigade 70 to simply Brigade 70 on May 23, 2019, following a Prakas issued by the Ministry of National Defence.
