The Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Cults and Religion have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost religious tourism. The agreement was signed on January 27, 2026, in the presence of senior officials from both ministries.

The MoU aims to create a more attractive and sustainable religious tourism ecosystem. It focuses on improving visitor experiences through better infrastructure, training, and promotional initiatives.

Both ministries will work together to enhance key religious sites and create diverse religious events. They plan to strengthen tourism services linked to spiritual and cultural heritage. New training programs for tour guides and hospitality staff will help improve visitor services. Essential infrastructure upgrades are also planned to support the growing number of religious tourists.

Officials say the MoU reflects a vision to use cultural and religious assets for economic growth and sustainable development. The partnership seeks to increase tourist visits while preserving important heritage sites.

Religious tourism is one of the fastest-growing segments in global travel. Many travelers now seek spiritual enrichment, cultural experiences, and heritage exploration. By combining their efforts, the ministries aim to strengthen tourism branding, diversify offerings, and enhance competitiveness in this sector.

The agreement highlights the government’s commitment to preserving culture and promoting innovation in tourism. It underscores the growing importance of religious tourism in national development and sustainable growth.
