Indonesian Ambassador Outlines Business Event Plans in Meeting with Cambodia Chamber of Commerce

During a recent engagement at the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) headquarters in Phnom Penh, Indonesian Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto and CCC Vice President Lim Heng discussed a series of forthcoming business-focused events aimed at bolstering the economic ties between Indonesia and Cambodia.

Ambassador Santo expressed satisfaction with Indonesia’s position as Cambodia’s sixth-largest trading partner in 2023, while also acknowledging the potential for further growth in their bilateral economic relationship. To this end, the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh is set to spearhead several promotional initiatives throughout the year.

One of the key highlights includes a health and beauty fair scheduled for June 2024 in both Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Ambassador Santo emphasized the growing popularity of Indonesian health products among Cambodian consumers, particularly in the herbal and traditional medicine sectors, suggesting significant growth opportunities for Indonesian manufacturers.

This fair will act as a precursor to the larger ‘Sousday Indonesia’ event, slated for September 2024 in Phnom Penh. This major event aims to foster trade, investment, and tourism linkages between the two nations, with an anticipated attendance of around 100 companies from both Indonesia and Cambodia. The Ambassador expressed his eagerness for CCC members to engage actively in this significant event.

Additionally, the Indonesian Embassy plans to facilitate a Cambodian business delegation’s participation in Indonesia’s premier international trade fair in October 2024. This event will not only showcase a wide array of trade opportunities but will also feature a dedicated forum focusing on potential collaborations in infrastructure development.

CCC Vice President Heng affirmed the Chamber’s dedication to supporting these initiatives, which are designed to enhance trade, investment, and tourism cooperation between the two countries. Both parties agreed on the importance of concerted efforts by their respective governments to encourage more interaction and collaboration within the private sector, including forging stronger ties between the CCC and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia. These planned events and initiatives are set to provide a robust platform for advancing the economic partnership between Indonesia and Cambodia.
