ISI GROUP Unveils New Special Economic Zone in Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville, Cambodia – ISI GROUP, in collaboration with capital partners, officially launched the ISI Special Economic Zone (ISI SEZ), a landmark development spanning over 800 hectares in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province, on January 10.

The grand launch event was presided over by H.E. Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, along with H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and other distinguished members from the national and international business communities.

During the ceremony, H.E. Chea Vuthy expressed strong support for the project, emphasizing its potential to significantly contribute to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s development efforts for both Sihanoukville and the national economy. He highlighted the strategic importance of Sihanoukville as a national economic hub and reaffirmed the government’s stance on the private sector as a key driver for economic growth and competitiveness in Cambodia.

“With strong support from the Council for Development of Cambodia, ISI GROUP is confident in pushing the project forward. This support not only establishes a necessary regulatory framework for new collaborations but also creates an environment that attracts both local and foreign investments,” H.E. Chea Vuthy stated.

In the initial phase of the project, ISI SEZ will cover approximately 206 hectares of land with a total fixed-asset investment exceeding USD 50 million.

Mr. Kang Leng, Chairman of ISI GROUP, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, citing the success of ISI PARK Veng Sreng and ISI PARK National Road 2 as foundational milestones leading to this ambitious development.

“ISI SEZ seeks to build on these achievements by incorporating advanced infrastructure and collaboration practices. Our goal is to continue innovating and leading in this sector, creating a vibrant ecosystem where businesses can thrive and communities can flourish,” Mr. Kang Leng stated.

According to a report, Cambodia currently has 28 actively operating Special Economic Zones out of 52 registered zones. These active SEZs host 835 factories and have generated approximately 200,000 jobs. Cambodia’s exports through SEZs reached USD 5.4 billion during the first 11 months of 2024, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce.
