Cambodian Prime Minister Discusses Advancements and Ethical Integration in Technology at Major Conferences

The 2024 JCI Asia-Pacific Conference and the 20th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation (AMMSTI-20) served as potent platforms for discussing regional and global advancements, with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet spotlighting the intertwined growth of cooperation, technology, and ethical standards in modern governance.

At the JCI Asia-Pacific Conference held at the Sokha Convention Center in Siem Reap from June 6-9, 2024, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the critical role of the conference in fostering cooperation among nations amidst challenges such as climate change, economic instabilities, and new pandemics. Addressing the concerns around privacy and societal impact, the Prime Minister advocated for a human-centered approach in AI utilization. He highlighted the essential nature of constructing regulatory frameworks that respect ethical standards and societal values. The discourse extended to issues like combating fake news and mitigating AI-generated societal divisions, which are paramount for maintaining social harmony and stability.

Throughout his engagements, Prime Minister Hun Manet stressed the dual necessity of adopting emerging technologies and simultaneously establishing robust mechanisms to guide their development thought then ethics and societal benefit. Both conferences painted a picture of a future where technology and traditional governance evolve to meet the modern demands of society, emphasizing that true progress is comprehensive and considered.
