Minebea Cambodia, a branch of the global conglomerate Minebea Mitsumi Inc., is set to broaden its footprint in Cambodia with the introduction of a new special economic zone aimed at enhancing its production network within the country.
This strategic initiative was unveiled by KAINUMA Yoshihisa, Director General of Minebea Cambodia, during a detailed discussion with Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), at the CDC’s headquarters in Phnom Penh on February 21.
Since beginning its operations in Cambodia in 2011, Minebea Cambodia has been on a trajectory of growth, consistently augmenting its manufacturing capabilities. The company’s investment portfolio in Cambodia is diverse, encompassing the production of miniature motors, fan motors, precision machine components, optical devices for smartphones, haptic devices for computer gaming, LED backlights, medical devices such as blood glucose meters, and innovative solutions like smart public lighting systems.
The establishment of a new special economic zone represents a significant step in Minebea Cambodia’s ongoing commitment to the Kingdom’s economic development. This move not only aims to create a more integrated production ecosystem but also underscores the company’s role in job creation and technological advancement in Cambodia, with a current workforce of 6,911 employees.
This development aligns with Cambodia’s broader economic strategies, fostering an environment conducive to industrial growth and attracting foreign investment. Through this expansion, Minebea Cambodia is poised to contribute even more significantly to the local economy, while reinforcing its position as a key player in the region’s manufacturing and technological sectors.
