Starting 1 July 2024, Cambodia will introduce a new online scheme for tourists, expatriates, and Cambodian citizens known as the Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) system. This initiative necessitates everyone, regardless of whether they possess a valid visa, to submit their travel details through an app within seven days prior to their arrival. Designed to replace the former paper-based procedure, the aim is to make the arrival experience smoother and more efficient.
The Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) scheme will require all arrivals – even if they hold a valid visa – to enter their details via a mobile app – available via https://www.arrival.gov.kh/.
The CeA system is accessible through a mobile application, available on both iOS and Android platforms. For iOS users, the app can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store, and for Android users, it is available on Google Play Store. The process is straightforward and user-friendly, involving several steps to complete the online application:
- Registration: Travelers initiate the process by registering their details. This involves taking a selfie and uploading passport information directly into the app.
- Completing the E-Arrival Card: This stage replaces the need for paper immigration, health, and customs declaration forms, consolidating these requirements into one digital format.
- QR Code Generation: Upon successfully submitting their application, travelers will receive a QR code. It is essential to save this on a mobile device or print it out to present at immigration upon arrival.
In cases where individuals are unable to complete the online process ahead of time, provisions will be made at immigration checkpoints, where tablets will be available for travelers to use.
The government has assured that this digital transition comes at no additional cost. Filling in the e-Arrival Card via the official website or mobile application is completely free for all travelers, making it a cost-effective solution for managing travel documentation.
By shifting to a digital approach, Cambodia sets a new standard for efficient travel documentation processing, ensuring a smoother entry for visitors and returning citizens alike.
