Strengthening Ties: Cambodia and Hungary Commit to Enhanced Bilateral Relations

On February 13, 2024, a notable diplomatic engagement unfolded as His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed His Excellency Dr. Tibor BALOGHDI, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Kingdom of Cambodia, based in Hanoi, for a courtesy visit.

During this significant meeting, both dignitaries shared their satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations between Cambodia and Hungary, acknowledging the deepening ties in recent years. This robust relationship has been characterized by frequent high-level exchanges, active engagement through bilateral platforms such as the Joint Economic Committee and Bilateral Consultations, and mutual support on the international stage, demonstrating resilience amidst regional and global challenges.

The Deputy Prime Minister extended his congratulations to Hungary for its upcoming role as the EU president in the latter half of 2024, recognizing Hungary’s consistent support in fostering Cambodia-EU cooperation across various domains.

Both officials reaffirmed their dedication to preserving the strong relations that exist between their nations and to continue offering mutual support internationally. This meeting underscores the mutual interest in further strengthening the partnership, promising continued collaboration and support between Cambodia and Hungary on the global front.
