The new Phnom Penh international airport is expected to be one of the world’s largest in terms of land area.
Despite repeated and severe rains in Phnompenh and Kandal district, development of the new Phnom Penh International Airport is progressing well.
While heavy rains and floods have slowed development, Sin Chansereyvutha, a spokesman for the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation, stated that contractors on the ground have taken the appropriate precautions to guarantee that critical sections of the project are completed on time.
According to him, around 30% of the airport should be completed soon. Once it reaches the milestone, the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation is expected to issue an update.
The Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC) is building and managing the new Phnom Penh International Airport, which began construction in 2019 and will cost $1.5 billion.
