On February 6, 2024, a significant meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Cambodia, marking another step forward in the diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Brunei. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, engaged in fruitful discussions with His Excellency Pengiran Kasmirhan Bin Pengiran Haji Tahir, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The dialogue served as an opportunity to reflect on the historic State Visit by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to Cambodia in 2022. Both dignitaries also revisited the significant outcomes of the bilateral meeting that took place between the Prime Minister of Cambodia and His Majesty the Sultan on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta in September 2023.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador expressed a mutual desire to deepen the cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, and cultural exchanges. They also pledged to continue supporting each other in regional and international platforms, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and collaboration in achieving mutual goals and contributing to broader regional prosperity and stability.
This meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of Cambodia and Brunei to bolster their bilateral relationship, exploring new avenues for collaboration that benefit both countries and their peoples.
