India Embassy in Phnom Penh sends off 40 Cambodian officials for cybercrime and statistics training, strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The Embassy of India in Phnom Penh hosted a farewell ceremony for 40 Cambodian government officials who will travel to India for specialized training programs. The initiative highlights the growing cooperation between India and Cambodia in professional development and capacity building.

The ceremony at India House was attended by Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith, President of the National Information Technology Centre, and other senior officials from both countries.

Twenty officials from the Ministry of Interior will attend the “Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Forensic” course from 28 January to 3 February 2026. The training will strengthen Cambodia’s ability to detect, investigate, and prevent cybercrime. Another twenty officials from the Ministry of Planning will join the “Subnational Statistics Using Administrative Data” course from 27 January to 7 February 2026. This program will enhance the use of administrative data for local planning and evidence-based policy-making.

Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung welcomed the participants, highlighting the importance of knowledge sharing and international collaboration. Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith thanked the Indian government for supporting Cambodia’s institutional and technological growth.

These programs build on previous training initiatives between the two countries. Recently, twenty officials from the National Authority for Combating Drugs completed training on countering illegal drug trafficking at the National Academy of Customs, Excise, and Narcotics in India. Other Cambodian officers have also trained in governance, public policy, and judicial administration.
