Anticipation Builds for the 2024 Giant Doll Parade in Siem Reap

The city of Siem Reap is buzzing with excitement as 650 children gear up for the highly anticipated 2024 Giant Doll Parade, set to illuminate the city at the end of February. This vibrant event is a celebration of art, culture, and environmental consciousness, aiming to enlighten the community about development and educational opportunities.

Un Savann, the General Manager of the Giant Doll Project, announced that the parade is scheduled for February 24, 2024, starting at 6:30 pm. This year’s parade is set to feature an impressive lineup of nine colossal dinosaur dolls, each stretching 15 to 20 meters in length and reaching heights of up to 10 meters. These spectacular creations are the result of the collaborative efforts of approximately 650 enthusiastic participants from various public and private schools, alongside 19 non-governmental organizations.

The 2024 parade, marking the 13th iteration of this enchanting event, promises to draw a significant crowd, including both local and international visitors. The procession will commence at Wat Damnak, winding its way to the riverside park in front of the Royal Palace. This strategic route, chosen in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, aims to showcase Siem Reap’s charm and enhance its appeal as a destination for tourists from around the globe.

The Giant Doll Parade has become a cherished tradition in Siem Reap, not only for its spectacular displays but also for its role in fostering a sense of community and highlighting important social themes through artistic expression. As the parade continues to grow in scale and popularity, it stands as a testament to the city’s vibrant cultural landscape and its commitment to nurturing creativity and environmental stewardship among its younger residents.
