Aurelius Healthcare to Expand Operations in Cambodia with Local Partnership

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – On the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Dato’ Amir Firdaus Abdullah, Chairman and Group Managing Director of Aurelius Healthcare. The meeting highlighted Aurelius Healthcare’s plans to strengthen its footprint in Cambodia’s healthcare sector through investment, regional collaboration, and skill development.

Dato’ Amir Firdaus Abdullah expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Hun Manet for the opportunity to engage in discussions despite his demanding schedule. He provided an overview of Aurelius Healthcare’s regional presence, noting that the group operates several major hospitals across ASEAN nations, including Malaysia, Viet Nam, and Thailand.

As part of its strategic growth, Aurelius Healthcare has recently entered into a partnership with Cambodia-based STSK Investment Group. This partnership marks the beginning of the group’s long-term commitment to the Cambodian healthcare landscape. According to the chairman, the group aims to invest in high-quality medical services while supporting human capital development through knowledge transfer, skills enhancement, and staff training in Cambodian hospitals.

Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the company’s interest and acknowledged the positive alignment between Aurelius Healthcare’s expansion plans and the Royal Government of Cambodia’s health sector priorities. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality, particularly at the grassroots level.

The prime minister emphasised the importance of infrastructure development and capacity building, referencing ongoing government initiatives to upgrade local health centres and referral hospitals. He also outlined plans to establish two new regional hospitals in Siem Reap and Kampong Cham provinces as part of Cambodia’s broader healthcare reform.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to implement a comprehensive national health insurance system aimed at improving service delivery and reducing healthcare costs for Cambodian citizens.

He encouraged Aurelius Healthcare to deepen its collaboration with local partners and play an active role in Cambodia’s healthcare transformation by delivering inclusive, high-quality, and patient-centered services.

The meeting reflected Cambodia’s proactive approach in welcoming international investment and expertise to help advance its public health objectives while promoting long-term, sustainable partnerships across ASEAN.
