Cambodia and Belarus Strengthen Trade Ties Ahead of 5th JCTEC Meeting

PHNOM PENH — Cambodia and Belarus are actively exploring new pathways to boost bilateral trade and investment. The discussions are moving forward under the framework of the Cambodia–Belarus Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC).

During a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Commerce, Secretary of State Tekreth Kamrang received Uladzimir Baravikou, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Cambodia, for a courtesy call and bilateral talks.

Expanding Economic Engagement

The two officials exchanged views on expanding economic engagement and enhancing collaboration across key sectors. The primary focus of the dialogue was to advance existing ties while identifying fresh areas of mutual business interest.

Both parties also reviewed ongoing preparations for the upcoming 5th JCTEC meeting, which is scheduled to take place in the near future.

Deepening Private-Sector Cooperation

Beyond government-to-government discussions, Cambodia and Belarus are looking to strengthen direct business-to-business links. The diplomats explored several initiatives to:

  • Promote tourism between the two nations.
  • Strengthen overall business connectivity.
  • Deepen private-sector cooperation.

To achieve this, plans are underway to organize a joint business forum involving the chambers of commerce from both countries, creating a direct platform for investors and enterprises to collaborate.
