The civil aviation sector (air travel) is getting better this year after the Royal Government of Cambodia declared the country’s reopening in November 2021, according to a report from the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.
“As of the end of December 2022, 27 international airlines have resumed flying in and out of Cambodia,” Sin Chanserivutha, Undersecretary of State and spokesman for Civil Aviation said recently.
“We received more than 2 million passengers in 2022, an almost 900 percent increase over the same period in 2021,” Chanserivutha added.
According to a Civil Aviation spokesman, Cambodia received approximately 300,000 flights, a more than 260 percent increase over the same period in 2021.
He says that by 2023, there will be more than 4 million passengers on flights, and there will be about 300,000 of them.
The route connecting China and Cambodia is likely to become a new leading route.
Flights connecting China and Cambodia have made great progress as of January 2023. “We had 30 flights per week between China and Cambodia (a quota imposed by the Chinese side), which means Cambodian Airlines will have 15 flights to China and China Airlines will have 15 flights to Cambodia.”
“There are six Chinese airlines flying in and out of Cambodia from seven destinations,” he continued.
Cambodia welcomes the resumption of Chinese flights to Cambodia.
