Kampong Speu, Cambodia – May 31, 2025 — Kampong Speu province is gearing up to host the Mountain Bike (MTB) Challenge 2025 on June 21-22 in Kraing Ampel commune, with the highlight being the introduction of a new competitive category — the XCM Mountain Bike Marathon.
The announcement was made by Mr. Yoeun Phiyuth, the lead organiser of the Kampong Speu MTB Challenge 2025, who confirmed that the XCM (Cross-Country Marathon) event will take place on June 21, covering a challenging 43.5-kilometre course through the scenic countryside.
The new discipline is aimed at attracting a broader range of participants, including international cyclists. “We’re seeing rising interest from overseas, with around 30 foreign racers already registered for the XCM Mountain Bike Marathon,” Mr. Phiyuth stated. He also encouraged local athletes to join the event and represent Cambodia in this growing sport.
Registration for the race is open through the “FLYING BIKES” Facebook Page, with a participation fee of US$20.
The Kampong Speu MTB Challenge 2025 is being organised under the support of the Cambodian Cycling Federation and is sponsored by FLYING BIKES along with other private sector partners. The event is expected to boost adventure sports tourism in the province while promoting competitive cycling in Cambodia.
With its rugged trails and natural terrain, Kampong Speu offers an ideal backdrop for mountain biking, and organisers hope this year’s expanded challenge will cement its place as a key destination for regional cycling events.
