Cambodia Establishes New Embassy in Timor-Leste and Consulate General in Thailand

The Royal Government of Cambodia announced this morning the establishment of a new embassy and a consulate general in two friendly countries, as per sub-decrees signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The new embassy will be located in Dili, Timor-Leste, while the consulate general will be opened in Songkhla province, Thailand. According to the sub-decrees, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Timor-Leste will be led by a Chief of Mission with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Meanwhile, the Consulate General of Cambodia in Songkhla will be headed by a Chief of Mission with the rank of Consul General.

The sub-decrees also note that additional members of the two diplomatic missions will be determined based on specific needs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation highlighted that Cambodia currently maintains more than 60 embassies, honorary consulates, and consulates general worldwide. The new consulate general in Songkhla marks the second Cambodian Consulate General in Thailand, complementing the existing one in Sa Kaeo province.
