To highlight Cambodia’s potential as a business destination, a “Briefing Session on Economic Diplomacy, Investment, Trade and Tourism Environment in Cambodia” was organized in Siem Reap province on September 2.

About 100 people from 19 diplomatic missions in Bangkok, the Thai delegation, and line ministries attended the event, which was presided over by H.E Dr. Nhim Khemara, Secretary of State and Head of the Economic Diplomacy Coordinating Group (EDCG), a high representative of Deputy Prime Minister PrakSokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Thailand in collaboration with the EDCG of MFAIC organized the Briefing Session as the second study visit for heads of diplomatic corps and families to the provinces of Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey from September 1 to 4.

Its objectives include showcasing Cambodia’s enormous potential as a business destination and promoting the new investment law, the Economic Diplomacy Strategy 2021–2023, and other relevant economic and tourism development plans for the Post–Covid–19 recovery.

Dr. Nhim Khemara thanked Ambassador OUK Sophorn and the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in the Kingdom of Thailand for organizing this advantageous visit and thereby assisting in the successful implementation of the Economic Diplomacy Strategy 2021–2023. He continued by saying that the Kingdom will learn a lot from this second study visit and expressed the hope that it will improve ties between Cambodia and the rest of the world.

On this mission, the governors of Bantay Meanchey and Siem Reap provinces, Oum Reatrey and Tea Seiha, respectively, received the delegates.

Later in the evening, Dr. Nhim Khemara presented a Welcome Dinner for the distinguished delegations, using the occasion to promote Cambodia’s culinary skills, traditional performances, and a wide variety of exquisite Khmer products.
