Phnom Penh — The Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) is scheduled to visit Cambodia this week to consult with government officials on preparations for the upcoming Francophonie Summit, according to a government announcement. The visit reflects ongoing coordination between Phnom Penh and international partners ahead of the major diplomatic event.

During the visit, the OIF Secretary-General will meet with senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and other relevant agencies to review progress on logistical arrangements, program planning and implementation details for the summit. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation and ensuring a smooth and effective event schedule.

Cambodia is set to host the 20th Francophonie Summit later this year, bringing together heads of state, government officials and delegates from Francophone and partner countries. The summit provides a platform for dialogue on shared priorities including cultural exchange, economic cooperation, sustainable development and multilingual education.

Officials said that preparatory talks will include discussions on venue arrangements, security coordination, media coverage and participation protocols for attending delegations. The Secretary-General’s visit is considered a key step in finalizing plans and ensuring that logistical and operational frameworks align with expectations for an international diplomatic gathering.

Representatives highlighted the importance of close collaboration between the Government of Cambodia and the OIF to deliver a successful summit that meets international standards and promotes meaningful engagement among participating countries. Authorities are also coordinating with local stakeholders and international partners to support logistical, cultural and technical arrangements.

The upcoming summit is expected to boost Cambodia’s diplomatic profile and enhance cooperation within the Francophonie community. Officials have reiterated their commitment to facilitating effective dialogue and fostering productive outcomes during the event.
