Saing Koma’s Agricultural Results and Contributions since Joining the Ruling Party

Saing Koma, the secretary of state at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, has outlined his achievements and ongoing tasks since joining the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP). With a focus on the government’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1 concerning agriculture, Koma has been working diligently to contribute to the sector’s development.

One of his primary tasks involves deploying 1,600 agricultural officials to communes across the country. Initially targeting 250 communes known for their rice production, this effort aims to provide support and expertise to these important agricultural areas. Koma is also leading a joint task force responsible for coordinating agricultural price chains, ensuring stable prices and exploring market opportunities.

As part of his mission, Koma is spearheading the development of pure rice varieties, aiming to enhance Cambodia’s rice industry. Furthermore, he is leading the agricultural development of Preah Vihear province, with a particular emphasis on promoting organic agriculture and positioning the province as a front-runner in the sector.

Additionally, Koma is actively involved in the implementation of development projects in modern farming communities and fostering cooperative projects with development partners. To further benefit farmers and stimulate local economies, he is proposing the establishment of an agricultural museum and the expansion of the agro-tourism sector, creating new market opportunities.

Koma expressed his commitment to collaborating with development partners to support the government’s priority political programs for the agricultural sector. By working closely with commune agriculture officials, he aims to enhance their ability to serve farmers effectively.

Reflecting on his first year with the government, Koma expressed gratitude for the increased opportunities, trust, and support he has received from both the government and the agriculture ministry. He remains dedicated to driving sustainable agricultural development in Cambodia.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, Dith Tina, highlighted the ministry’s additional crucial tasks, including the deployment of 200 agriculture students to several provinces. This initiative specifically supports the fourth economic pole initiative in the northwestern provinces, focusing on the development of agriculture and its integration with the “fish and rice corridor” to strengthen cooperation between Cambodia and China.

Together, Koma and the ministry are actively working towards the advancement of Cambodia’s agricultural sector, striving for sustainable growth and prosperity.
