Cambodia’s garment, footwear and travel goods (GFT) industry, the Kingdom’s largest export sector, earned US$13.15 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 7.7 percent on the same period of 2025, according to a report by the Ministry of Commerce.

Key points

  • Garment, footwear and travel goods (GFT) exports reached US$13.15 billion in January–September 2026, up 7.7% year on year.
  • Garments brought in US$9.23 billion (+6.9%), footwear US$1.66 billion (+8%) and travel goods US$1.65 billion (+7.6%).

  • The sector employs about 1.1 million people in more than 1,800 factories and branches.

Growth across every category

  • Garments: US$9.23 billion, up 6.9 percent
  • Footwear: US$1.66 billion, up 8 percent
  • Travel goods: US$1.65 billion, up 7.6 percent
  • Textiles: US$614 million, up 21.5 percent, the fastest-growing category

The strong rise in textiles suggests more of the supply chain is moving into Cambodia, adding value beyond cutting and sewing.

A pillar of jobs

The sector is one of the Kingdom’s biggest employers. According to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, it counts more than 1,800 factories and branches and about 1.1 million workers, most of them women.

Outlook

Analysts expect the momentum to continue. Mr. Thong Mengdavid of the China-ASEAN Studies Center at the Cambodia University of Technology and Science said the industry’s upward trajectory is “highly likely to continue”, supported by Cambodia’s membership of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), its free trade agreements with China, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, and new investment from China, South Korea and Japan.
