More than 3,600 runners filled the streets of Phnom Penh on the morning of 25 October 2026 for the fourth AIA Pink Run, a community race held in front of Wat Botum Watey Park to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention. Organised by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), the event brought together 3,615 participants from 36 countries.
Key points
- The fourth AIA Pink Run took place on the morning of 25 October 2026 in front of Wat Botum Watey Park, Phnom Penh.
- A total of 3,615 people from 36 countries took part: 3,210 Cambodians and 405 international participants.
- Runners competed over 10 km, 5 km and 2.5 km courses.
- Thousands of women received free breast cancer screening during the event.
- The run was organised by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia with AIA as the main sponsor.
Cambodians made up the great majority of the field, with 3,210 local runners, joined by 405 international participants. The largest foreign groups came from the Philippines, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.
Three distances, one pink wave
The 10-kilometre race was the main event, attracting 1,512 runners, of whom 1,279 were Cambodian and 233 from abroad. A further 1,233 people took on the 5-kilometre course, 1,109 of them Cambodian and 124 from overseas, while 870 participants completed the 2.5-kilometre route, including 822 Cambodians and 48 international entrants.
Taken together, Cambodians accounted for close to nine in ten of all participants, a sign of how firmly the event has taken root among local runners in its fourth year, while the international field gave the morning a distinctly global character.
Beyond the competition, the organisers set out two goals: to spread knowledge about how breast cancer can be prevented and detected, and to encourage people to make sport a habit for life. H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Senior Minister and President of the NOCC, took part in the event, which received in-principle approval from the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Phnom Penh Capital Administration.
Free screening for thousands of women
The most tangible benefit came alongside the race itself. Thousands of women were able to have a free breast cancer screening during the event. H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary-General of the NOCC, said the run had also helped women gain access to screening and treatment services, turning a morning of exercise into a practical health opportunity.
The strong turnout, with runners from dozens of countries joining Cambodian families, also showed Phnom Penh's growing appeal as a host for international community sports events.
The run was supported by AIA as the main sponsor, together with other partners.
