After a two-year break, the Khmer Empire Marathon, one of Cambodia’s most well-known running events, will take place on August 7th.
The Angkor Empire Marathon in Siem Reap’s Angkor Archaeological Park is jointly organized by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and other partners.
The organizers said that the Angkor Empire Marathon’s return in 2022 will help the province’s tourism industry recover.
The Angkor Empire Marathon will be a unique opportunity for all runners worldwide to enjoy the historic route in the area of World Heritage through approximately 40 ancient temples along the pretty smooth road race that practically cuts through the national forest and rice fields and villages.
The 7th Khmer Empire Marathon will take place on August 7, 2022, and is expected to attract more than 4,000 runners. The 6th Angkor Empire Marathon took place on August 4, 2019, with more than 3,500 runners from 49 different countries.
This major marathon event brings together hundreds or thousands of runners, the majority of whom are used to running marathons through cities, but the Angkor Empire Marathon has a unique setting that includes a world heritage site, countryside with beautiful scenery, as well as Siem Reap town, making the marathon course one of the best in the world.
