Phnom Penh: Participants in the Jobs and Skills SUMMIT 2023 organized by the Institute of Banking and Finance on September 29 and 30 received more than 4,000 students and job seekers in the banking sector.

The event takes place at the National University of Management in collaboration with the Banking Association of Cambodia (ABC) and the National University of Management Job Center.

Mr. Sou Visal, General Manager of Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) emphasized: “On this occasion, IBF also collaborated with NUM Career Center and experts in the field to organize, especially short training courses related to soft skills. “And strong skills to prepare for job opportunities in the banking and finance sector now and in the future.”

In order to promote the banking and financial sector, Mr. Touch Visalsok, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, also encouraged and provided some views such as:

1) Participation in the development of human resources in the field of banking and finance through Encourage the younger generation to choose this profession, strengthening the quality of education and training at all levels, implementing strategies to attract and retain outstanding individuals, strengthening research and development.

2) The banking and financial institutions are actively involved in providing opportunities for students to do internships during their studies and also provide appropriate stipends that facilitate their studies.

3) The University encourages to increase and strengthen cooperation between the public sector: the private sector, the education sector and development partners to improve the curriculum.

At the same time, Mr. Touch Visalsok also called on local higher education institutions to cooperate with the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) to strengthen the capacity of students in this field to have more potential and full of professionalism to have all the jobs. Expanding cooperation between the public, private, education, and development sectors in curriculum development.

H.E Dr. HOR Peng, Rector of the National University of Management (NUM), emphasized the university’s commitment to building human resources for the banking and financial sector, contributing to social and economic development in Cambodia.

NUM’s partnerships with numerous countries to offer exchange programs and dual degrees, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to address the real needs of the banking and financial sector, focusing on integrating essential subjects such as retail landing and compliance.

The discussions at the summit echoed the Cambodian government’s ambition to transform the country into a high-income nation by 2050. By investing in human capital and facilitating partnerships between academia and industry, Cambodia aims to create a vibrant banking and financial sector that supports economic growth and fulfills the government’s development goals.

Overall, the JOBS & SKILLS SUMMIT 2023 highlighted the importance of education, cooperation, and innovation in promoting the banking and financial sector in Cambodia. These efforts aim to equip the younger generation with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this vital industry, while contributing to the country’s long-term economic prosperity.
