PHNOM PENH — The Australia Education Fair 2026 convened in Phnom Penh, drawing more than 2,300 students, parents, and educators to explore international study programs and high-demand vocational pathways designed to strengthen Cambodia’s human capital and global economic competitiveness.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Im Koch, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), and Nguon Meng Tech, Director General of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), alongside Australian education representatives and partner institutions.
Human Resource Development Drives Private Sector Competitiveness
Speaking during the event, CCC Director General Nguon Meng Tech emphasized that developing digital skills and technical expertise among the youth is essential to maintaining national economic momentum.
- Workforce Needs: Highlighted the need for a modern workforce equipped with technical skills, digital fluency, and a global perspective to meet private sector demand.
- Industry Alignment: Welcomed direct bridges between local students and accredited international institutions to address current talent gaps across key growth sectors.
MoEYS Secretary of State Im Koch noted that the fair provides a critical platform for students and families to make informed career decisions while reflecting long-standing bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Australia in institutional capacity building and scholarship initiatives.
Preparatory Pathways and Cost-Saving Programs
The exhibition spotlighted flexible study frameworks aimed at lowering financial barriers for Cambodian students pursuing higher education abroad:
- Affordable Study Pathways: Chhorn Chhunleng, Founder and CEO of E-School Cambodia, outlined bridging pathways designed to prepare students locally prior to overseas transfer, potentially reducing overall international study costs by up to $50,000.
- Institutional Backing: The educational initiatives are supported by the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, the Australian National Institute of Business and Technology (ANIBT), MoEYS, and Australian partner universities.
- Financial Access: Participating organizations are collaborating with domestic banks and financial partners to offer structured education loans for students seeking tertiary degrees.
With Australia remaining a premier destination for Cambodian tertiary students, the fair highlighted visa facilitation processes, dual-program options, and technical curricula tailored to evolving international job markets.
