In a significant gathering held on June 6, 2024, in Vientiane, Lao PDR, senior officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) convened to deliberate on a set of pivotal issues directing the future course of the region. Among the esteemed attendees was His Excellency KUNG Phoak, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, representing Cambodia as its ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) Leader.

Given the dynamic nature of global affairs, enhancing dialogue and cooperation with international counterparts stands as a critical goal. This approach not only reinforces ASEAN’s position on the world stage but also facilitates mutual understanding and collaboration on a broad spectrum of issues, ranging from trade to environmental sustainability.
Another focal point of the meeting was the meticulous preparation for the upcoming 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (57th AMM) slated for July 2024. This high-level engagement, alongside related meetings, is eagerly anticipated, as it promises to further articulate and concretize action plans for the region’s advancement.
