Cambodia’s aviation sector recorded steady growth in 2025, with air passenger traffic reaching nearly 7 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of around 12 percent, according to official aviation data. The rise highlights the continued recovery of air travel and growing demand for international and regional connectivity as tourism and business travel activity strengthened during the year.
Passenger movements across Cambodia’s international airports showed consistent improvement, supported by higher flight frequencies and the return of key international routes. The country’s major airports collectively handled close to seven million arriving and departing passengers over the course of 2025, indicating a sustained rebound compared to previous years impacted by global travel disruptions. The increase in passenger numbers aligns with broader regional trends, where Southeast Asian aviation markets have been witnessing gradual but stable recovery.
Alongside passenger growth, overall aviation activity expanded during the year. The total number of flight movements rose by more than 10 percent compared to the previous year, reflecting increased airline operations and improved connectivity. Air cargo traffic also recorded notable growth, with freight volumes rising by over 20 percent, driven by stronger trade flows and higher demand for air logistics services. This growth underscores the dual role of Cambodia’s aviation sector in supporting both passenger travel and cargo transportation.
In 2025, Cambodia was served by a mix of domestic and international airlines, connecting the country to multiple destinations across Asia and beyond. Airlines operated routes linking Cambodia with major cities in ASEAN countries, as well as markets such as China, South Korea, Japan, India, and the Middle East. Expanded route networks and the gradual return of suspended services contributed to improved accessibility and higher passenger throughput.
Infrastructure development also played a role in supporting aviation growth. Continued investments in airport facilities and capacity enhancement helped accommodate rising passenger volumes and improve operational efficiency. These developments strengthened Cambodia’s position as an emerging aviation hub within the region, supporting tourism, trade, and economic activity.
The performance of Cambodia’s air transport sector in 2025 reflects improving market conditions and increased confidence among travellers and airlines. With expanding connectivity and ongoing infrastructure upgrades, air passenger traffic is expected to maintain a positive trajectory in the coming period, supporting broader economic and tourism recovery efforts.
