Cambodia and Mongolia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on tourism and wider regional cooperation.
On the sidelines of the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (10th FEALAC FMM) in Ulaanbaatar, H.E. Chum Sounry, Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), met with H.E. Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh, Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The two officials discussed ways to boost tourism, including initiatives to encourage more Buddhist visitors to Cambodia, while also exploring opportunities for deeper engagement within ASEAN frameworks.
Both sides agreed to convene the 2nd Bilateral Consultation between their respective Foreign Ministries in Mongolia next year and to institutionalize the consultations on a biennial basis.
H.E. Chum Sounry commended Mongolia for co-hosting the 10th FEALAC FMM with the Dominican Republic, highlighting the adoption of the Ulaanbaatar Declaration as a milestone in charting a stronger interregional partnership. He also reiterated Cambodia’s readiness to broaden cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, and political dialogue.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh conveyed warm regards to H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MFAIC, expressing hope for a potential meeting between the two Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York this September.
The meeting underscored both countries’ shared commitment to advancing diplomatic ties and building stronger bridges of cooperation across multiple sectors.
