Phnom Penh – The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia welcomed a high-level delegation from Nanjing Tuniu International Travel Service Co., Ltd. (Tuniu), one of China’s leading travel companies, to discuss expanding tourism cooperation and marketing Cambodia as a premier destination for Chinese and international travelers.
His Excellency Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, received Mr. WANG Shubai, Vice President and representative of Tuniu, along with his esteemed colleagues, at the Ministry headquarters. During the courtesy meeting, both parties engaged in constructive discussions on promoting Cambodia’s rich tourism assets in a more integrated and impactful way.
Minister Huot Hak expressed deep appreciation for Tuniu’s ongoing efforts to showcase Cambodia’s diverse tourism offerings to the Chinese market and beyond. He acknowledged the company’s proactive role in helping to “bring Cambodia to the world and the world to Cambodia,” and emphasized the importance of such partnerships in revitalizing the Kingdom’s tourism sector.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the Minister’s endorsement of a newly signed strategic partnership agreement between Tuniu and the Cambodia Tourism Marketing and Promotion Board (CTB). This alliance plays a central role in the Cambodia–China Tourism Year initiative and is expected to catalyze new tourism campaigns and experiences tailored to Chinese travelers.
In the spirit of deepening collaboration, both sides discussed the development of customized tourism products such as thematic tour packages, new travel routes, in-depth cultural exploration experiences, family study tours, and honeymoon holidays. These offerings aim to align with the evolving preferences of Chinese and international tourists, ensuring that visits to Cambodia go beyond traditional sightseeing to immersive and memorable journeys.
The Minister also encouraged Tuniu to organize a familiarization trip (Famtrip) for travel agents, media, and opinion leaders to Cambodia. The purpose of the trip would be to provide firsthand experience of the Kingdom’s political stability, social vibrancy, and the wide range of investment and tourism opportunities available, reinforcing confidence among potential travelers and partners.
This high-level engagement underscores Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening tourism ties with China and positioning itself as a compelling, safe, and accessible destination in Southeast Asia. It also reflects growing private-public sector collaboration in accelerating the recovery and growth of the Cambodian tourism industry.
