The General Department of Immigration (GDI) under the Ministry of Interior has officially launched the trial phase of the Cambodia v-Pass (Visitor Pass) system, marking a significant shift in the country’s immigration procedures. The new system, which replaces traditional immigration stamps and QR codes, is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and security of Cambodia’s border checkpoints.
Starting from July 1, the trial implementation will be applied to all foreign travellers entering or exiting Cambodia through the Kingdom’s three international airports and international seaport checkpoints. This initiative is in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s broader efforts to modernise its immigration infrastructure, in alignment with the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy and the Pentagonal Strategy – Phase 1.
“The v-Pass system is a digital platform designed to streamline immigration procedures by replacing physical passport stamps and QR code stickers. It aims to improve efficiency, security, and processing speed at border checkpoints,” stated the General Department of Immigration (GDI). The system represents a significant step forward in digitising Cambodia’s immigration services.
Travellers can access their Cambodia v-Pass information through several convenient channels:
- Official Cambodia e-Arrival website: https://arrival.gov.kh
- Cambodia e-Arrival mobile application
This digital transformation is expected to simplify the immigration experience for visitors and provide faster processing at airports and seaports.
The launch of the v-Pass system coincides with an upward trend in Cambodia’s international air travel. In the first five months of 2025, Cambodia’s three international airports processed a total of 3.04 million air passengers, an 18 percent increase from the same period last year, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA). The Kingdom is on track to welcome 7.5 million air passengers in 2025, representing a 20 percent increase compared to 2024.
This trial phase of the Cambodia v-Pass system marks a significant milestone in Cambodia’s efforts to modernise its immigration procedures, supporting the country’s vision of becoming a digital economy hub in the region. The full-scale rollout of the system is anticipated to further streamline travel and bolster Cambodia’s position as an attractive destination for global tourists and business travellers alike.
