Cambodian Leadership in Focus at Eurasian Women’s Forum

by TBC

In a significant move that underscores the growing role of women in international leadership, Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei Khuon Sudary, the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, helped spotlight women’s contributions during the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum. With her guidance, key members of the Cambodian Parliament and senior officials joined virtually from the National Assembly palace, demonstrating the country’s commitment to fostering global dialogues around pressing issues.

The forum, held under the banner “Women for Building Trust and Global Cooperation,” presented a vital platform for discussing and deliberating the evolving role of women in creating a trusting, cooperative international community. Organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and supported by other significant bodies, the event drew leaders from across the globe to engage and propose solutions to challenges exacerbated by strategic trust deficits and ailing global governance mechanisms.

During her video address, Samdech Khuon Sudary articulated the importance of trust and global cooperation as cornerstones for achieving peace and sustainable development. Her speech highlighted the critical need for ethical leadership and advanced policies that prioritize humanity and the planet alike, ensuring a prosperous future for all. Emphasizing the value of empathy in leadership roles, she pointed out how transformative leadership could bring about significant positive changes, enhancing the inclusiveness of the international system.

One of the key elements of her discourse involved the enhancement of transparent communications and the free exchange of information as potent tools to build and sustain trust. Parliamentary diplomacy, coupled with state and people diplomacy, were underscored as essential in fostering cultural exchange and open dialogues that cross international and ideological borders.

In line with the theme of promoting women’s influence worldwide, Samdech Khuon Sudary voiced strong support for increasing women’s participation across all fronts, from politics to grassroots peace initiatives. Recognizing the existing barriers that limit women’s potentials such as political, economic, and socio-cultural confines, she advocated robust measures to dismantle these hurdles. Concrete steps proposed included the enforcement of gender quotas, the provision of leadership training programs geared towards women, and mentorship initiatives that encourage networking and skill development among female leaders.

Furthermore, the importance of involving women more integrally in peace processes was also highlighted. By providing specialized training and promoting female-driven peace initiatives at community levels, a new paradigm of conflict resolution could emerge, centered around inclusivity and gender-sensitive approaches. Samdech also proposed an intensified effort in solidifying inter-parliamentary ties and fostering cross-border partnerships amongst women leaders, aiming to facilitate a seamless exchange of insightful practices and collaborative projects.

The commitment of Samdech Khuon Sudary to these causes was resolute, as she asserted Cambodia’s readiness to collaborate with global partners to enhance mutual trust and engage in practical cooperation. The role of women in leadership was mirrored as fundamental in steering the course towards a balanced and equitable global governance structure, one that promotes effective multilateral actions and adheres strictly to an international rules-based order.

This proactive engagement at the Eurasian Women’s Forum not only highlighted Cambodian leadership’s forward-thinking approach but also set a concrete path forward for empowering women in leadership roles globally, aiming at making a lasting impact on international relations and global peace building.
