From April 27th to 30th, 2024, Cambodia’s dignitary Mr. Ung Rachana, the Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, participated in the significant 14th Meeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV) held in Pattaya, Thailand. Mr. Rachana serves as a high-ranking member of this task force, which focuses on shaping the future roadmap for the ASEAN region post-2025.
The gathering marked a pivotal step forward, as it saw the completion of the initial assessment of the Draft on the ASEAN Political and Security Community (APSC) Strategic Plan, which is aligned with the broader objectives outlined for the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. It is expected that by the conclusion of the present year, this draft will achieve ratification. Following this, the strategic plan will be advanced to the esteemed ASEAN Leaders for official endorsement during the first semester of 2025.
The meeting provided a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary engagement among various strategic planning segments of ASEAN. Mr. Ung Rachana and his fellow HLTF-ACV members took this chance to engage with heads from parallel sectors, including the Chair of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI), the Co-Chairs of the Ad Hoc Working Group responsible for crafting the Strategic Plan of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) post-2025, and the Chair of the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC). Discussions centered on exploring the various perspectives that have surfaced during the formulation of each strategic plan as well as the progress made thus far.
The dialogue fostered during this multi-day conference underscored the collective effort and synergy among ASEAN members as they navigate towards a comprehensive vision for 2045. Mr. Rachana’s active involvement reflects Cambodia’s ongoing commitment to contributing constructively to the development and realization of a cohesive and sustainable ASEAN Community.
The outcomes of the HLTF-ACV meeting are crucial as they lay the groundwork for the future actions and collaborations among member states, steering the region towards shared prosperity, peace, and stability. The culmination of this strategic planning process is poised to set the tone for ASEAN’s trajectory over the coming decades, ensuring the continuity of cooperative efforts for the welfare and advancement of its member nations.
