The final T-beam of Cambodia’s tallest bridge, located in Pursat province, was successfully installed on Sunday, marking a major milestone as the project enters its final construction phase.
The bridge, known as Bridge No. 28, is part of the National Road No. 10 project and spans the Russey Chrum River valley in Chhay Luk village, Osom commune, Veal Veng district. Built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the 80-metre-high structure extends 530 metres in length and 10 metres in width.
With the installation of the final T-beam, the most challenging aspects of the construction have been completed, setting a solid foundation for future traffic operations, according to a statement from the CRBC Cambodia Office.
Bridge No. 28 is located near a national nature reserve and a first-level water source protection area, which added complexity to the construction process. The project involved significant challenges related to high pier continuous beam construction and deep foundation pit excavation.
Liu Zhaowei, project leader at the CRBC Cambodia Office, highlighted that the team successfully managed these difficulties by employing more than 10 new technologies to enhance safety and ensure the stability of concrete pouring for the abutment, pier body, and cantilever box beam.
The overall National Road No. 10 reconstruction project stretches 197.3 km, with 96.16% of the work already completed, according to the statement.
