Phnom Penh — The Ministry of External Affairs of India, represented by the Embassy of India, and Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) have signed two new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) under India’s Quick Impact Projects (QIP) initiative.
The agreements were signed by Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Kim Sethany, Permanent Secretary of State at MoEYS, in the presence of Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport.
The first MoU covers the Climate-Resilient School Water System Project in Pursat Province, which will install solar-powered water systems in five primary schools. The initiative aims to ensure reliable access to clean water, improve hygiene practices, and strengthen climate resilience in school communities.
The second MoU focuses on the Standard Model School Development Project in Kampong Cham Province. This project will upgrade school infrastructure, provide modern sanitation facilities, and enhance the capacity of school principals and teachers, creating a model environment for quality learning and holistic education.
Since 2015-16, the Government of India has approved 69 Quick Impact Projects across Cambodia, spanning education, IT, agriculture, health, sanitation, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability. Eight of these have been implemented in collaboration with MoEYS, directly benefiting Cambodian students and educators.
These new agreements reaffirm India’s continued support for Cambodia’s development priorities and reflect the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
