Phnom Penh, June 27, 2025 — Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a high-level business delegation from the Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA) this afternoon at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to expanding economic ties with Malaysia.
The delegation was led by MCBA President, Dr. Dato’ Sri Ricky Yaw, who introduced the association as a dynamic platform committed to strengthening partnerships between Malaysian and Cambodian businesses. He highlighted the diversity and potential of the visiting delegation, which included representatives from 20 Malaysian business associations. These delegates expressed keen interest in investment opportunities across key sectors including education, healthcare, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agricultural processing, construction, and real estate.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed appreciation for the deepening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in economic and people-to-people linkages. He welcomed the commitment shown by Malaysian businesses and lauded the continued growth of bilateral relations.
A notable highlight of the discussion was the recent launch of direct flights between Phnom Penh and Penang by Cambodia Airways, which began on June 26, with twice-weekly services. The Prime Minister emphasized that these enhanced air links will significantly strengthen business and tourism ties between the two countries.
Reaffirming the Royal Government’s strong support for foreign investors, Samdech Thipadei underscored Cambodia’s favourable investment climate. He drew attention to the newly enacted Law on Investment, which provides a liberal and transparent framework along with competitive incentives, particularly for SMEs—an engine of Cambodia’s inclusive economic growth.
“The Royal Government is deeply committed to improving Cambodia’s regional and global competitiveness. We encourage all investors to take advantage of the new investment law and pro-business policies,” the Prime Minister stated.
Samdech Thipadei also called on the MCBA to engage closely with Cambodian ministries and relevant institutions to gain a comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and sector-specific opportunities.
The meeting underscored Cambodia’s readiness to work with Malaysian partners across a wide range of industries, as both nations continue to promote inclusive economic development and regional integration under the spirit of ASEAN cooperation.
The visit by the MCBA delegation is expected to open new avenues for collaboration, particularly in high-impact sectors aligned with Cambodia’s national development goals.
