TIANJIN, CHINA — Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a high-level meeting with H.E. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Summit 2025 in Tianjin.
Chairman Wang warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei and the Cambodian delegation, emphasizing that their presence reflects Cambodia’s steadfast commitment to deepening its enduring friendship with China. He hailed the strength of Cambodia–China ties, noting that the bilateral relationship has consistently weathered evolving international dynamics, emerging even more stable and resilient over time.
Wang recalled the recent meeting between Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Hun Manet on August 30, where the Chinese President outlined clear directions for enhancing bilateral cooperation across key sectors. He reaffirmed that China will continue its unwavering support for Cambodia’s development and sovereignty.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed profound appreciation to the Government and people of China for their long-standing support of Cambodia’s development journey. He reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership with China, especially under the framework of building a shared future between the two nations.
“China has always stood by Cambodia’s side during times of transformation and growth,” stated the Prime Minister. “We deeply value this partnership, and we are determined to deepen our collaboration for mutual benefit.”
During the talks, Prime Minister Hun Manet also raised concerns about the recent developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border. Emphasising Cambodia’s dedication to peace and stability, he called on China to use its constructive influence to encourage restraint and diplomacy between both nations.
He underlined that any resolution to border disputes—especially in civilian-populated areas—must be achieved through peaceful dialogue and existing bilateral mechanisms such as the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Border Committee (JBC). These discussions, he added, should be grounded in bilateral agreements, historical treaties, and international law.
The meeting further reinforced the growing political trust and shared strategic vision between Cambodia and China. With both nations continuing to align their priorities in areas such as infrastructure, trade, education, and regional stability, this engagement marks another milestone in the comprehensive and cooperative friendship between the two countries.
As the SCO Plus Summit 2025 continues, Cambodia’s proactive diplomacy has underscored its balanced foreign policy approach—strengthening key alliances while advocating peace, development, and respect for sovereignty in Southeast Asia.
