ADATA Technology Co., Ltd., a leading global manufacturer of electronics and computing technologies based in Chinese Taipei, is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s rapidly growing technology sector. The move aligns with Cambodia’s ambition to become a regional hub for innovation and high-tech industries.
Simon Chen, Founder and CEO of ADATA Technology, met with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on April 30 at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh. The high-level meeting focused on potential investments and partnerships to support Cambodia’s digital transformation.
Chen emphasised ADATA’s international footprint, noting that the company operates more than 40 representative offices worldwide and has five subsidiaries listed on stock exchanges in Taiwan and Hong Kong. ADATA’s expertise spans electronics, robotics, computer hardware, biometrics, and automotive technology.
“This is my fourth visit to Cambodia. Our company is very interested in investing here—particularly in the high-tech and electronics sectors. We are also keen to work with Cambodian ministries and institutions to support skills development in advanced technologies,” said Chen.
Cambodia’s Government Encourages High-Tech Investment
Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed ADATA’s interest and praised the company’s global success and innovation. He reiterated the Royal Government’s commitment to positioning technology as a key pillar of Cambodia’s economic development strategy.
“Technology development is a national priority. We encourage companies like ADATA to collaborate with local ministries to explore investment opportunities and support Cambodia’s skilled workforce,” the prime minister stated.
Investment Incentives and Policy Support
The Prime Minister highlighted Cambodia’s favourable investment climate, supported by the Law on Investment of the Kingdom of Cambodia and recent administrative reforms designed to attract foreign direct investment (FDI). Key investment incentives include:
- Tax holidays and customs duty exemptions
- Preferential treatment for high-tech and innovation-based industries
- Simplified registration and licensing processes
- Support for companies involved in value-added manufacturing and supply chain development
These measures are part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen Cambodia’s position as a competitive destination for advanced manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and sustainable industrial development.
ADATA’s Role in Strengthening Cambodia’s Tech Ecosystem
ADATA’s proposed investment is expected to support the growth of Cambodia’s knowledge-based economy, while also contributing to human resource development. By partnering with local institutions, ADATA aims to provide training and capacity-building programmes in robotics, electronics, and computing technologies.
As Cambodia’s digital economy continues to evolve, strategic investments by global tech leaders like ADATA could play a transformative role in modernising the industrial landscape and creating high-value employment opportunities.
