During his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, His Excellency HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, held a working luncheon with H.E. Mr. Yerkinbayev Yerzhan, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan. The meeting, aimed at enhancing tourism cooperation throughout 2025, laid the foundation for a future Memorandum of Understanding between the two nations.
Both sides acknowledged Cambodia’s growing appeal among Kazakh tourists, attributing this to the Kingdom’s peaceful, politically stable, and safe environment. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral collaboration, promoting mutual tourism exchange, and exploring joint marketing strategies.
The meeting also celebrated the recent filming of a Kazakh tourism promotional film in Cambodia by DAUBAY Productions—an initiative that further strengthens cultural and tourism ties between the two nations.
Shared values, such as warm hospitality, rich culinary traditions, and a deep-rooted cultural heritage, were highlighted as important assets in advancing people-to-people exchanges. Both countries have nurtured over 30 years of diplomatic relations, with significant historical moments, including the fondly remembered 1982 visit of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to Kazakhstan.
Demonstrating genuine warmth and respect, Deputy Minister Yerkinbayev personally travelled from Astana to Almaty early in the morning to receive the Cambodian delegation. In a heartfelt gesture, he also prepared traditional Kazakh dishes himself to welcome Minister HUOT Hak—an act reflecting Kazakhstan’s enduring culture of hospitality and friendship.
The meeting marked a positive step forward in Cambodia-Kazakhstan tourism relations, with both sides committed to deepening cooperation in the years ahead.
