Phnom Penh — Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet continues to advance a high-level international diplomatic mission that is closely tied to safeguarding the nation’s border integrity and citizen security, government officials have said. The mission underscores Cambodia’s commitment to addressing ongoing security challenges and reinforcing cooperative ties with global partners.
In a briefing on 19 February 2026, the Royal Government’s official spokesperson highlighted that Hun Manet’s engagements abroad reflect the strategic importance of protecting Cambodia’s territorial integrity, particularly amid lingering tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border. The Prime Minister is currently leading a senior Cambodian delegation on a diplomatic tour, beginning in the United States, where he is attending the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace at the invitation of US leadership.
The spokesperson noted that Hun Manet’s discussions with international counterparts in Washington, D.C., are intended to garner support for peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms, strengthen security cooperation, and amplify Cambodia’s voice on issues related to regional stability and border management. The Board of Peace forum brings together global leaders to explore strategies for peace, security, and multilateral collaboration on pressing international challenges.
Following engagements in the United States, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Europe, including visits to Geneva and Brussels, where bilateral dialogues with European Union representatives and other stakeholders are expected to further solidify partnerships on security and development priorities.
Before departing for the Board of Peace meeting, Hun Manet granted an international interview in which he addressed concerns over the Cambodia–Thailand border situation and reaffirmed Cambodia’s position on respecting sovereignty and international law. He emphasized the need for technical cooperation mechanisms to resume border demarcation work, with the aim of ensuring long-term peace and enabling displaced residents to return home.
Officials said that protecting territorial integrity and enhancing citizen security remain central to Cambodia’s foreign policy objectives, informing the Prime Minister’s international engagements. These diplomatic missions also aim to attract investment, strengthen economic ties, and promote Cambodia’s role as a constructive partner in regional and global affairs.
The ongoing mission highlights Cambodia’s proactive approach to addressing complex security issues through peaceful dialogue, cooperation, and adherence to international norms.
