The authorities in Kampong Speu province have announced that they will be providing free accommodation for high school diploma candidates in 2023. With concerns over the candidates from the nine districts not being able to arrange temporary accommodation during the two-day examination in November, the provincial administration has made arrangements for 18 free accommodation options near the examination center.
Governor Vy Samnang explained that the accommodations are not luxurious but are meant to serve as temporary spaces. Some of the accommodations provided by the provincial administration include the office of the provincial administration department as well as religious shrines. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and guardians by covering some of the expenses.
The Governor emphasized that the arrangement of accommodations for the upcoming Higher Diploma Examination on November 6-7 was made in collaboration with the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, the Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sports, relevant units, and nearby pagodas to ensure a smooth process.
Furthermore, parents and guardians of the candidates have been informed to contact the respective managers at each location that is close to their children’s examination center in order to secure a safe and free place to stay. All hotel and guesthouse owners have also been advised not to take advantage of the situation by increasing prices on the day of the exam, facilitating students’ stay until the end of the examination.
This proactive step taken by Kampong Speu province demonstrates their commitment to supporting the education and well-being of high school diploma candidates. By providing free accommodation, they aim to remove potential obstacles and create a conducive environment for the students to focus on their exams.
