Phnom Penh, Cambodia – May 2025: The painting exhibition “Color Outside the Lines”, organised by Humans of Phnom Penh (HoPP), concluded with great success at the SOSORO – Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum after two days of cultural engagement and artistic expression. The event, held from May 9–10, was graced by H.E. Samheng Boros, Minister attached to the Prime Minister, who joined artists, students, and members of the public in celebrating Cambodia’s evolving creative landscape. The exhibition was led by Mr. Niraj Gupta, founder of HoPP, who has been instrumental in building platforms for Khmer storytelling and cultural visibility.
The exhibition featured 15 selected Cambodian artists whose works explored themes of tradition, identity, resilience, and contemporary culture. Each piece offered a distinct interpretation of Khmer heritage, sparking dialogue between creators and viewers, and inviting deeper reflection on Cambodia’s cultural journey.
Over the course of the two-day event, visitors also took part in a series of expert talks and artist presentations. The exhibition concluded with an award ceremony announcing the Top 3 Winners:
- 1st Place – Im Seila
- 2nd Place – Rith Bonrotanak
- 3rd Place – Kunthea Kou
Color Outside the Lines is part of Humans of Phnom Penh’s mission to spotlight untold local stories and empower Cambodian artists. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Niraj Gupta remarked, “Art is not just an expression; it is a bridge connecting history, identity, and the future. This exhibition is just the beginning of our effort to elevate Khmer artists to greater heights.”
The exhibition was made possible with the support of Phillip Bank (Diamond Sponsor), alongside key partners including IBCC, ItaCham, CanCham, Prince Foundation, TVS, SBC India Group, CamEd Business School, and Macro Solutions. Hospitality partners included Dakshin’s Restaurant, Mekong Authentic India Restaurant, Namaste Indian Restaurant, and UWA Korean Street Food.
Media coverage by Kiri Post, TVK, Khmer Times, and Cambodia Investment Review helped extend the reach of the exhibition’s stories and messages across Cambodia and beyond.
Open to the public across two days, the event attracted hundreds of visitors who engaged with dynamic interpretations of Khmer culture and identity. The participation of H.E. Samheng Boros added a meaningful layer of national recognition, reinforcing the importance of cultural investment and creative dialogue in Cambodia’s development.
