Held at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh, the forum focused on deepening India-Cambodia trade relations, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and promoting Cambodia as a competitive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI).

He highlighted Cambodia’s role as a key player in ASEAN economic corridors and a hub for manufacturing, agribusiness, and technology innovation.
India and Cambodia Advance Trade and Investment Agenda
Ambassador Bawitlung underlined the strong cultural and economic ties between the two nations, urging Indian businesses to seize growing investment opportunities in Cambodia. He pointed to sectors such as renewable energy, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure development as high-potential areas for Indian investors.
The forum also served as a follow-up to earlier India-Cambodia trade missions, reinforcing ongoing efforts to boost bilateral trade volume and expand commercial partnerships.
Key Discussion Themes
The India-Cambodia Business Forum addressed several core themes:
- Strengthening India-Cambodia bilateral trade partnerships
- Promoting public-private sector cooperation
- Exploring joint ventures in agribusiness, green energy, and smart infrastructure
- Supporting skills development and technology transfer
Participants agreed that closer coordination between Indian and Cambodian enterprises can unlock new economic value, enhance regional supply chains, and contribute to Cambodia’s long-term development goals.
Cambodia as a Gateway to ASEAN Markets
The forum reinforced Cambodia’s reputation as a strategic gateway to ASEAN, with strong connectivity, a youthful workforce, and one of the region’s most open investment environments. Cambodia’s projected GDP growth of over 6% in 2025 and its goal of achieving upper-middle-income status by 2030 further strengthen its position as an attractive destination for Indian businesses looking to expand in Southeast Asia.
Future Outlook: Sustained Engagement and Investment
The event concluded with a commitment to deepen economic collaboration through future trade missions, high-level business dialogues, and sector-specific partnerships. Both governments are expected to facilitate ease of doing business initiatives, policy harmonization, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
As India expands its Indo-Pacific engagement and Cambodia diversifies its economic partnerships, the India-Cambodia Business Forum 2025 marks a significant milestone in building a sustainable, resilient, and mutually beneficial economic relationship.
