Strengthening Cambodia-Spain Relations: A Commitment to Shared Prosperity

On November 19, 2024, His Excellency Mr. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed His Excellency Mr. Felipe DE MORENA CASADO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Kingdom of Cambodia, during a diplomatic meeting. The Ambassador, based in Bangkok, Thailand, emphasized Spain’s enduring partnership with Cambodia and its shared aspirations for closer collaboration.

During the discussions, both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the longstanding relations and constructive cooperation between the two nations. They explored opportunities to enhance bilateral trade, investment, and other areas of mutual interest, building upon the strong foundation of trust and goodwill.

The Secretary of State extended heartfelt gratitude to the Spanish government for its continuous support to Cambodia, particularly its assistance to the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. In a gesture of solidarity, he conveyed Cambodia’s deepest condolences to the government and people of Spain for the recent floods that devastated the Valencia region.

Ambassador DE MORENA CASADO congratulated Cambodia on its preparations for the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World and praised the country’s vital contributions to United Nations peacekeeping efforts. He reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to fostering increased trade and investment, underscoring the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on pressing regional and international issues, reinforcing the shared commitment to addressing challenges collaboratively.

This diplomatic engagement reflects the strong bond between Cambodia and Spain, highlighting a shared vision for cooperation and development that continues to benefit both nations.
