(Melaka, Malaysia) H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, held talks with ASEAN Secretary-General H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on the sidelines of the ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Retreat and the World Tourism Conference.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, discussions focused on Cambodia’s contributions to ASEAN tourism development, with particular attention to sustainable growth, enhancing the skills of the tourism workforce, and improving service quality across the region.
Minister Huot Hak stressed that peace, political stability, security, and public order are essential foundations for development in all sectors, highlighting tourism as a vital driver of Cambodia’s national economy.
In response to Cambodia’s requests, the ASEAN Secretariat affirmed its commitment to working closely with the Kingdom to advance key initiatives. These include promoting ASEAN guidelines on digital literacy in the tourism sector, supporting green tourism businesses, establishing an ASEAN tourism green fund, strengthening hygiene and safety standards, and engaging ASEAN’s external partners to foster sustainable and responsible tourism.
