Cambodian music is stepping onto the global stage, with Khmer culture gaining increasing recognition across neighboring countries and beyond. This growing international interest was highlighted by renowned Cambodian rapper VannDa, whose real name is Mann Vannda, during a press conference on March 7. The event marked the announcement of a new partnership between VannDa, Baramey Production, and Tiger Beer — a collaboration aimed at taking Cambodian music to new heights.
VannDa’s Vision for Khmer Music
“As interest in Cambodia increases, we strive to incorporate more and more elements of Khmer identity into our work,” VannDa said during the event. “We have to move forward together, and I can confidently say that Khmer music has never been at this level before. We are truly strong.”
The partnership marks a significant step for Cambodia’s music industry. Under the agreement, VannDa will release his third album, Treyvisai (Compass), in three phases.
New Album and International Collaboration
Baramey Production announced that TREYVISAI I: The Search for Light will be released on March 14, followed by TREYVISAI II on March 21 and TREYVISAI III on May 1.
A key highlight of the partnership is the upcoming release of “Smoke Up,” a collaboration between VannDa and leading Thai rapper Young Ohm. The music video is set to drop on March 13, with Tiger Beer as the main sponsor.
“We have also planned a large-scale, high-standard concert for this third album, with Tiger as the main sponsor,” said a spokesperson for Baramey Production. “The concerts will be held in two locations: ‘Treyvisai Legacy’ on May 3 in Battambang province, and ‘Treyvisai Sovannaphum’ on May 17 in Phnom Penh.”
A Milestone for Khmer Music
VannDa shared that the album represents a major milestone for Cambodian music. “We’ve come this far thanks to the support and belief in Khmer music, as well as the hard work of artists — both senior and emerging — who have contributed to opening doors for Cambodian music in the international market. This is helping create new opportunities for its continued development,” he said.
The rapper expressed gratitude to Tiger Beer for recognizing his musical talent and to Baramey Production for its role in this journey.
“I am honored and excited that Tiger is joining us as a partner to push Cambodia’s music industry forward — stronger and further onto the global stage,” VannDa added.
Taking Khmer Music to the Global Stage
VannDa has already introduced Khmer music to Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, the US, and even performed at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony. His latest album reflects a personal and artistic journey of self-discovery.
“I want everyone to listen to this album because it tells a story — a journey through life, the time I have invested in music, and a new milestone for Cambodia, as this is the first time a Cambodian album has been divided into three parts,” VannDa explained.
Expanding the Platform for Cambodian Talent
In addition to the album, The Rapper Cambodia Seasons 2 and 3 are set to return, with the production team promising an even better experience for audiences.
Willem van den Wijngaart, HEINEKEN Cambodia Marketing Director, emphasized the significance of the partnership:
“We believe in the power of music to connect people and uncage the next generation of talent. VannDa is the perfect embodiment of the ‘Uncage Your Tiger’ mindset—an artist who pushes boundaries and represents the bold, fearless spirit we stand for. Tiger Beer’s collaboration with Baramey Production provides the platform to discover and groom Cambodian talents for the international stage.”
A New Era for Cambodian Music
The partnership between VannDa, Baramey Production, and Tiger Beer marks a new era for Cambodian music, blending Khmer identity with global influences. With the support of Tiger Beer and Baramey, VannDa’s music is poised to reach new audiences and elevate Khmer culture on the international stage.
