Phnom Penh — Nearly 30 leading French companies have arrived in Cambodia this week to explore new investment prospects and deepen economic ties with the Kingdom, the French Embassy in Phnom Penh announced this morning.
The high-level delegation is being led by H.E. Olivier Richard, French Ambassador to Cambodia; Ms. Sophie Sidos-Vicat, President of the French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCEF) and Co-President of the Europe and International Committee of MEDEF (Mouvement des Entreprises de France); and Mr. François Corbin, Vice-President of MEDEF International and Special Representative of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs for Economic Relations with ASEAN.
Strategic Sector Engagements
The French business mission has engaged in a series of strategic meetings with key Cambodian ministries to identify sectors where French expertise can contribute significantly to the country’s development. Among those who received the delegation were H.E. Keo Rottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy; H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of the Environment; H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health; and H.E. Ros Seilava, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Discussions centered around strengthening partnerships and identifying contract opportunities in areas where French companies have a proven track record—particularly in sustainable energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and environmental innovation.
Fostering Public-Private Synergy
A working lunch was also organized with representatives from prominent Cambodian businesses to facilitate dialogue and explore pathways for joint ventures, technology transfer, and mutually beneficial commercial collaborations.
The French Embassy noted that this mission reflects France’s continued commitment to fostering economic diplomacy and reinforcing its long-standing relationship with Cambodia. French companies are particularly interested in sectors aligned with Cambodia’s development priorities, including clean energy, healthcare systems, environmental resilience, and digital transformation.
A Boost to Cambodia-France Economic Relations
This visit comes at a time when Cambodia is actively seeking to diversify its foreign investment portfolio and strengthen ties with European economies. With France being a key member of the European Union and home to some of the world’s most innovative firms, the delegation’s presence underscores a growing momentum in bilateral trade and investment.
The outcome of these engagements is expected to pave the way for new memorandums of understanding, technology partnerships, and long-term investments that contribute to job creation, knowledge exchange, and inclusive growth in Cambodia.
