Cambodia’s agricultural sector posted strong growth in 2025, with Cambodia Agriculture Export revenues exceeding $4 billion in the first ten months of the year, according to new data released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The figure represents a nearly 30 percent rise compared to the same period in 2024, highlighting the country’s expanding role in global food supply chains.
From January to October 2025, Cambodia exported 11.89 million tonnes of agricultural products worth $4.18 billion to 90 international markets, based on the National Sanitary and Phytosanitary Database. Paddy and milled rice remained the backbone of the Cambodia Agriculture Export portfolio, contributing about $1.65 billion.
The ministry reported an increase of 2.64 million tonnes in overall export volume year-on-year. Paddy exports grew by nearly 1.99 million tonnes, non-rice crops by 465,132 tonnes, and milled rice by 191,910 tonnes, underscoring continued demand in regional and global markets.
After Thailand unilaterally closed its borders earlier this year, Cambodia shifted part of its agriculture export supply chain to sea routes. Between June 24 and the end of October, Cambodia exported 2,398 tonnes of crops worth $7.05 million to Thailand via maritime channels.
Despite the overall rise in Cambodia Agriculture Export activity, fresh cassava shipments declined as farmers increasingly opted to process crops into dried cassava and cassava starch—products with higher value and better storage capacity. As a result, dried cassava exports increased by 60.91 percent, while cassava starch exports surged 82.59 percent.
The list of Cambodia’s major agricultural export products includes paddy, rice, rubber, cassava, mango, bananas, pepper, cashew nuts, durian and red corn. These products continue to anchor the Kingdom’s export competitiveness across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Speaking at the Cambodia Agriculture Fair Exhibition 2025 (CAFE25), Ministry Secretary of State Prak David said the performance of the Cambodia Agriculture Export sector reflects long-term progress, noting that the country has transitioned from relying on food assistance to achieving full food security and expanding global exports.
Cambodia Rice Federation president Lay Chhun Hour said rice exports grew by nearly 37 percent during the period. Premium varieties—Phka Romduol, Sen Kro Ob, Sangkeor and organic rice—continued to drive strong international demand, reinforcing Cambodia’s reputation for high-quality rice.
In 2024, the agriculture sector contributed 16.7 percent to Cambodia’s GDP, valued at more than $7.82 billion. That year, Cambodia exported more than 12 million tonnes of agricultural products to 95 countries, earning $5.3 billion. Analysts say the 2025 figures so far signal continued upward momentum for the Cambodia Agriculture Export industry.
